As Cheat Sheet notes, “Judy Justice” is, of course, led by Judy Sheindlin, the legendary TV star who previously fronted “Judge Judy” for close to three decades. This time around, though, she’s brought in granddaughter Sara Rose, who worked as a production assistant on the previous show, to play the role of legal analyst opposite Sheindlin herself. Of bringing her granddaughter onboard, Sheindlin quipped to Deadline, “I’ve known Sarah, our law clerk, since she was born. She will be a third-generation female lawyer in our family. She’s smart, sassy, and opinionated. Who knows where she gets those traits?”
Elsewhere, Cheat Sheet notes Whitney Kumar, a former board-certified court reporter, serves as their courtroom stenographer, while former Los Angeles probationary officer Kevin Rasco acts as bailiff, after heading up the behind-the-scenes security team for the final three seasons of “Judge Judy.” Many fans were shocked to see beloved bailiff, and Sheindlin’s real-life BFF, Petri Hawkins Byrd absent from the cast. Byrd told Entertainment Weekly he was never even asked to be a part of the show. “My assumption is if you were going on to do something else, that you were at least going to ask me if I wanted to have the opportunity to audition for the role,” he said. Maybe Byrd will be brought back for Season 2?

In a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter, beloved TV star Judy Sheindlin revealed she ended her hit show, “Judge Judy,” after 25 years for two very important reasons. Namely, Sheindlin likes “to see things tied up in a bow,” but she also wanted “to leave everybody wanting a little bit more.” Evidently, fans did indeed still have an appetite for her inimitable brand of justice and, luckily for them, Sheindlin gave no thought to retiring. She reasoned, “I’m not tired. I don’t play golf or tennis. I have no desire to learn how to play mahjong, chess or checkers. I know what I like to do. Why, at my stage in life, would I try to find something else when I already know what I like?”
Besides, as the Emmy-winner acknowledged, being on television isn’t a typical job. Headlining “Judy Justice” allows her plenty of free time to see her children, grandchildren, and beloved husband (fellow retired judge Jerry Sheindlin). More than anything else, though, Sheindlin still feels like her no-nonsense perspective is needed, particularly during these trying times. As she told The Guardian, “Are my feelings necessarily PC and kumbaya? No. They are realistic.” But that’s precisely why we love her and why, even after all these years, fans continue tuning in to see what Sheindlin will do and say next. Simply put, Season 2 of “Judy Justice” can’t come quick enough.

Senior vice president and executive producer of the Daytime Emmy Awards David Michaels went even further, stating, “Daytime television wouldn’t be what it is today without Judy Sheindlin. ‘Judge Judy’ redefined and reinvigorated the courtroom format propelling the genre to new heights.” Although it ran for an incredible 25 years, “Judge Judy” managed to consistently be the No. 1 first-run syndicated program, averaging 10 million viewers every day. The show was also the highest-rated court program for every single season it aired.
When is Season 2 of Judy Justice expected to air?

Season 1 was 45 episodes long, per IMDb, so it’s safe to assume we’ve got another batch coming shortly. As for when we can expect those episodes to drop, it’s really anyone’s guess. Sheindlin might have filmed all 100+ at once, or split them into groups. Either way, we can definitely look forward to more “Judy Justice.”
