Wouldn’t it be nice if you could meet your soulmate while crossing the street and you just knew instantly that they were “the one”? Unfortunately, real life isn’t that easy. Dating is complicated.  Let’s be honest, it can be intimidating to put yourself out there no matter how confident you are because there is always a possibility of rejection or it not working out. Whether you are looking for a short-term fling or a life partner, dating is stressful. We all have that one friend (or it could just be you) who has horrifying date experiences that make you not even want to try. Modern dating is definitely not what dating used to be in past generations. 

Psychology Today says it is essential to understand the “current cultural and social scenarios clearly” if you want to find a life partner who is on the same page as you. Dating apps were created to make it easier for people to meet others in the hopes of finding love, but it’s not working out as initially planned. The Guardian reported that dating apps can also be a negative experiences for women when dealing with disturbing behaviors like users sending “unsolicited dick pics, harassing messages, and the non-consensual sharing of nudes.” But in 2022, women are taking control and choosing approaches to dating in ways that actually work.

Women aren’t putting up with BS anymore in 2022

Cosmopolitan also shared that “untyping” will be huge this year and gave the example of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson because he is definitely not her usual “type.” If dating how you normally do hasn’t worked out in the past, it may be time for a change. Research from the dating app Badoo added that “three-quarters of singletons are looking to let go of their ’type’ for 2022,” so you might as well try it as well. 

While physical attraction is important, that may also be something you want to put lower on your priorities. According to Match, 83% of singles in America are looking for more  “emotional maturity in a partner over physical attractiveness.” Let’s face it, people age but inner beauty doesn’t. Nowadays, StyleCraze has also noted that women are more honest and asking the questions they want to ask, because you want to know things about your potential partner if you see a future with them. You need to be your true self and understand their true self to find your happily ever after together.
