Twitter assumed the worst about the governor

Critics of the California governor have been vocal on Twitter about his absence from the public eye. One user tweeted, “Gavin Newsom hasn’t been seen in almost 2 weeks, after taking his ‘booster’ shot in late Oct.” He continues, “He canceled his speech at the Climate Hoax summit in Europe. The event is of utmost virtue-signaling importance to [people] like Newsom. Where is Gavin Newsom? The public deserves to know.”

Twitter’s main storyline seems to be that Newsom has been out of the public eye due to complications from receiving his COVID-19 booster shot. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the governor received a Moderna booster after getting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine back in March. This has made people, especially on Twitter, question if the vaccine played a role in his absence. However, it seems that he is dealing with family obligations (via ABC7 News). According to his spokesperson, Erin Mellon, he will be back in action next week. “The Governor will participate in a couple events next week focused on global efforts to advance zero-emission vehicles and to move beyond oil.” It seems like Newsom is not suffering from some sort of vaccine-induced illness. It sounds as though he will be back working in the public eye soon.
